MV A SUKAI a Hyundai Heavy Industries container ship

Recently, the MV A SUKAI, a Hyundai Heavy Industries container ship, passed thru the Kanmon Straits of Japan. The vessel was captured on digital "film" on August 6, 2024 by Ship Freakazoid from the Shimonoseki side of the strait.

The above photos shows MV A Sukai sailing under the Kanmon Bridge, which connects Shimonoseki City on Honshu Island with Kitakyushu City on Kyushu Island. Between 20,000 and 30,000 vehicles cross the bridge each day.  Also, the Kanmon Straits can have as many as 1000 ships pass thru on peak days.

For a former million person city that boasts about Mojiko Retro and promotes it's retro charm and history like crazy, one wonders why they allowed that hideous condominium tower to be built... Wait! I know!  MONEY! But, da-a-a-amn, it's ugly.

JOSCO ALMA passing thru Kanmon Straits enroute to Osaka Japan from Zhoushan China

The container ship JOSCO ALMA was photographed by Ship Freakazoid as it was passing thru Kanmon Straits enroute to Osaka Japan from Zhoushan China on the morning of January 26, 2024. NYK FUTAGO container ship in Kanmon Straits at sunset

The Singapore flagged container ship NYK FUTAGO passed thru the Kanmon Straits of Japan on a lovely but hot (36C-97F) mid-September afternoon. The straits were calm.  The air was heavy. The sunset was lovely. NYK Futago was glorious.  NOTE:   NO filters used & ZERO editing done (Photoshop etc.)  Silhouette of container ship sailing at sunset - NYK FUTAGO This 267 meter long cargo ship was captured by Ship Freakazoid as it sailed through the Kanmon Strait between the Garden Paradise Kitakyushu and Shimonoseki at sunset on September 17, 2024.  As per usual, SF used his trusty secondhand Olympus E-520 DSLR camera equipped with a Zuiko 150mm lens to photograph this lovely vessel.  Settings in the above photo were:  f/11 , ISO 100 , 1/1600 sec.
